Joyce Birkenstock received her
training at the University of Dallas, the University of Iowa, the Norton Art
School, the Art Students League, and the Vermont Studio Center. She is
affiliated with the American Artists Professional League, the American Society
of Portrait Artists, the Atlanta Society of Portrait Artists, the National
Association of Women Artists, and the Painters of America, and is a Signature
Member of the International Artists Society. Joyce has appeared in Who’s
Who of American Women and Who’s Who in America.
Joyce has received many
prestigious awards, including the Disney Productions Purchase Award;
the Merit Award at the National Portrait Seminar in New York; the Grumbacher
Silver Medallion at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe 85th Annual
event in New York; the Peoples’ Choice Award at the Human Images
Exhibition at the Broward Art Guild in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; the Distinguished
Achievement in Portrait Painting award at the National Portrait Seminar in
New York; the Best of Show at the All Member Exhibition at the Boca
Raton Museum of Art; an Honorable Mention at the Sixth Annual
Celebration of the Arts and a Merit Award at the Seventh Annual
Celebration of the Arts at the Lighthouse Gallery in Tequesta, Florida; the First
in Oils at the Boynton Beach Festival of the Arts; the Best of Show
at the Human Images Exhibition at the Broward Art Guild in Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida; the First Honorable Mention at the Washington Society of
Portrait Artists National Competition; the First in Portraiture at the Artist’s

Joyce’s work has been

Cornell Museum in Delray Beach, Florida; the Florida National Bank in
Jacksonville, Florida; the Diocese of Miami, Florida; the Diocese of Palm
Beach, Florida; the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida; the Latner
Foundation; and Fairfield University. Her work is included as a sample in The
Best of Portrait Painting, published in 1998 by Northlight Books.
