SOUTH AFRICA

I was initiated into the world of travel in South Africa where I met friendly, joyful people living in a land of beauty. Visiting the game preserves and witnessing the wildlife first hand gave me an appreciation for nature’s majesty and was the catalyst for my future artistic journeys. While many of the old traditions appear to be fading, tribal villagers still consult the sangomas (witch doctors) for advice from their ancestors. In the past, Zulu men were warriors; now they farm, herd cattle or work in the factories and mines, while most of the women are raising children in the outskirts of the townships.
